With a managerial change from Paul Tisdale to Matt Taylor, Exeter City Football Club were entering a new era on the pitch. The managerial change wasn’t the only exciting development; there was also a considerable evolution in their marketing department opting for Seen In Design, a locally based design agency to design, print and deliver the newly updated match day programme for the club. With thousands of supporters attending their matches every week, having a professional and eye catching match day program design is key to entice the many fans to purchase one.
Exeter City are a Devon based football club playing their football in League 2, the fourth tier of the English Football League System with high hopes of gaining promotion into League 1. The most challenging part about creating the match day brochures is the tight turnaround times. Only having two to three days to design, approve and print the programmes makes a swift and effective working system key in order to deliver the programmes on time.
As well as updating the match day programme design so that it is on brand with the club’s social media channels, but we have also struck up the perfect balance between having an aesthetically great design and displaying important information effectively so that fans still get key news about the club. The latest team news and information about the latest opposition is just a small part of the information that the match day programme holds. Updates about the latest ticket news for upcoming games and travel information for away days are also key pieces of information for fans.
There have been some new features added into the programme that needed to be freshly designed including:
• A quiz for the junior Grecians to complete
• Lookbacks at some famous goals that have been scored for the club since it has been under the Supporters’ trust ownership
• Players by numbers
We can’t take all of the credit for the completion of the programme.
